The Nursery and Garden Industry Association (NGIA) (formerly the NZ Nurserymens Association (NZNA)) is the sole representative body for the New Zealand nursery industry.

Its origins date back to in 1904 when it began life as The New Zealand Nurserymen and Seedsmen's Association.

Today, NGIA consists of over 500 members, which are a mix of growers, retailers and suppliers of dry and green goods, fertilisers, etc. Other people/businesses within our Industry with related interests may be associate members.

The objects of the Association include:

1. To further the interests of members in ornamental horticultural and allied industries.
2. To collect and disseminate any information of assistance to members.
3. To encourage research, development and technology transfer in matters likely to be of benefit to members.
4. To speak or act on behalf of members as a whole in matters relating to business, legal, governmental or parliamentary affairs.
5. To further education and training for the industry.
6. To promote the garden industry.

In furtherance of the above objects the Association:

1. Keeps members up-to-date on developments within the industry through the monthly newsletter.
2. Notifies members of points of particular interest including incidence of disease, changes to quarantine and export regulations, and so on.
3. Represents to Government and to policy departments the views of the industry on matters such as accident compensation; plant import regulations; export requirements; shop trading hours; Employment Relations Bill; vocational education and training.
4. Co-operates with education and training institutions and Crown Research Institutes on education and research matters.
5. Is a founding member of, and co-operates with, the NZ Horticultural Industry Training Organisation (NZHITO) and with other institutions on professional education syllabi, standards and testing.
6. Arranges group concessions of business, and private, interest to members.
