Waimea Nurseries is one of New Zealand’s largest nurseries, growing fruit trees for orchardists, and fruit, ornamental and berry plants for garden retailers. Established in 1971, the nursery now covers over 100 hectares with a mix of field and container tree production.
The main nursery site is located 10 minutes from Richmond on the Waimea Plains and offers a fabulous work culture with the ability to grow and develop in the business.

Reporting to the Production Manager, Team Leaders provide knowledge and supervisory expertise across all areas of our container nursery. This is a hands-on role leading one of our container production teams in various tasks throughout the year, ensuring that they are completed efficiently, on time and to the required standard.
Ideally the successful applicant will have a range of experiences in a nursery environment including potting, maintenance, Pest and Disease identification and management, weed control and irrigation. You may also have spent time growing plants from seeds, cuttings and from budding and grafting.
Waimea Nurseries grows a wide range of plants so we are happy to provide training to the right person. Most importantly, you will have a love of working with plants and take pride in seeing real, tangible results in your work.
Have a proven history in leading and motivating a team,
- Be comfortable training and teaching others,
- Understand machinery and agricultural chemicals and can contribute to maintaining a safe working environment,
- Be physically capable,
- Be confident with paperwork and quality documentation,
- Hold a current, full NZ driver’s license.
